Why the Washington Post Story is Good News
Atrios called the Washington Post story "Senior Administration Officials: Damn We're Fucking Stupid."
While I don't disagree with that statement, it is beside the point.
The fact that despite protestations to the contrary from Bush and friends policy is being adjusted around the horror that Iraq has become hopefully means that troops will start coming home sooner rather than never based on unattainable goals and expectations.
This isn't a Bush-hating "we told you so" moment (although one can derive some satisfaction from rubbing noses in this mess). The goal of the antiwar movement has not been to humiliate Bush but instead to end the war. This story indicates a significant movement towards the end of US participation in the war.
