Smearing Cindy Sheehan

Farhad Manjoo at Salon publishes an excellent interview with Cindy Sheehan. I say that it is excellent not in that it contains anything earth-shattering but that it clearly reveals Cindy Sheehan to be sincere - fighting for what she believes in.

One correction:

Manjoo states in the introduction to the interview that Sheehan has been "blogging on Michael Moore's website."

On the "now infamous blog call" from Thursday Sheehan made it clear that while she realized her writing and efforts were appearing on the internet she was personally unfamiliar with blogging. It appears to me that MichaelMoore.com has been reproducing Sheehan's DailyKos diary. The statement that she has been "blogging on Michael Moore's website" isn't entirely accurate.

Hair-splitting, indeed.

Sheehan is definitely a Michael Moore supporter - so what? Conservatives have been using this fact to attack her integrity. If she is open and candid about admiring Michael Moore, and she is, what does that have to do with the matter at hand? She lost her son in the war and she wants the war to end and she is taking advantage of her notoriety. That anti-war people like Michael Moore and even me are also taking advantage of her notoriety to forward the anti-war cause is precisely what she wants.
