Leaking Spin
The NY Times today published an article today that can only be described as pure spin from the White House. The article claims that Rove was not the information provider he only confirmed it. According to an unidentified source, Rove or as I like to call him "Shit Weed" was provided with the information by a reporter. Clever little Bushco monkeys - refusing to answer questions on the record and then shifting the focus back to the reporters by leeking information anonymously.
Mr. Rove has told investigators that he learned from the columnist the name of the C.I.A. officer, who was referred to by her maiden name, Valerie Plame, and the circumstances in which her husband, former Ambassador Joseph C. Wilson IV, traveled to Africa to investigate possible uranium sales to Iraq, the person said.
After hearing Mr. Novak's account, the person who has been briefed on the matter said, Mr. Rove told the columnist: "I heard that, too."
And why is this pure spin?
How about this.
The person who provided the information about Mr. Rove's conversation with Mr. Novak declined to be identified, citing requests by Mr. Fitzgerald that no one discuss the case.
So it's ok to discuss the case as long as you don't reveal who you are?
I'd say that if you are gonna cite requests by Fitzgerald as the reason that you shouldn't be identified - One might want to follow those requests by not leaking information in the first place.
It's spin - let's not get in a twist over it
