Iraqi Blogger Abducted

Via Riverbend, Iraqi blogger (and, therefore, free speech activist) Khalid Jarrar has been abducted by the Mukhabarat, Iraq's intelligence service. The name has an understandably negative connotation, because it served as Saddam's secret police, but Khalid's brother Raed explains why it beats the alternatives.

Update: In the comments, upyernoz clarifies:

mukhabarat is just the arabic word for secret/intelligence service. they use the same word in most other arab countries. i am told the mukhabarat will be following me around when i'm in syria in september
