The Hedgehog Report » Review of 1776
Ryan pointed out the funniest comment I've seen in awhile...
A wingnut blogger posted a review of David McCullough's new book, 1776 which "focuses solely on the battles fought by George Washington during the year 1776 that many say eventually turned the tide of the Revolutionary War in the [American's] favor."
Sensing an opportunity to bash liberals, the anti-war movement and the media, the wingnut closes his review with the following:
One thing that really came to me as I was reading it is how lucky we were not to have the same type of anti-American/anti-military media back then that we have today or there would have been no way in hell the Americans could have ever prevailed over the British. I can just imagine how today’s media would have covered all the setbacks George Washington faced before evetually winning that battle at Trenton and changing the entire course of the war. If today’s media was around back then, it would have never gotten that far….A lively comment thread follows, including this gem, the funniest comment I have seen in awhile:
I was fascinated with the part of 1776 where Ben Franklin stood a Redcoat hooded (so that he couldn’t see)on a chair and hooked up a Leyden jar battery to the soldier’s testicles.hehe!
