On Voinovich, Bolton and Frist

Captain's Quarters

This post and comment thread on the conservative blog Captain's Quarters is fascinating. Where we liberals feel some relief at the possibility (probability?) of the Senate ultimate sending Bolton packing, the wingnuts are furious - at Voinovich, as we already know, and at Frist because he's supposed to be in charge, dammit.

Apparently a "leader" who doesn't wield his cock like massive weapon to keep the troops in line a la Tom DeLay isn't any sort of leader at all. The pressure is on Frist to make sure that Bolton gets confirmed and if it doesn't happen, there is going to be right-wing blog hell to pay. Captain Ed of the Captain's Quarters is already withholding donations to the RNC and NRSC. If wingnut bloggers continue to withhold donations to the Republican Party, the entire house of cards must be in danger of imminent collapse!

Fortunately for the rest of us who keep up with our sanity medication, the big business greed interests that keep the coffers of Senators from both parties flush with cash don't give a shit about Bolton or the UN or Voinovich or how effectively Frist wields his cock. This stuff is a sideshow to keep the ideologues busy and distracted while the genuine, wholesale pillaging of the American people go on. Bush signed the "Bankruptcy Reform" bill into law yesterday with a smirk on his face. Wouldn't it have been nice if that anti-consumer, anti-American bit of legislation were opposed with anything approaching the conviction of the unflagging winger support for an angry, ham-handed stooge like Bolton?

But it wasn't meant to be. The rabid religious right has worked itself into a froth about anything and everything even tangentially related to their agenda and they're taking no prisoners. Brain-dead housewives on life support, judicial activists, pharmacists so far astray from their professional code of ethics that they turn simple business transactions into miniature holy wars between Jesus and the culture of death...

Hold fast, Voinovich. These warriors for Christ need to be excised from the affairs of this country's government and slapped back into their churches and homes where they belong.

Godspeed.
