The Apocalypse Will Be Televised (Harpers.org)

This article is great... It's a very in-depth review and fisking from Harpers of the creepy end-times/Rapture/second-coming-of-Christ "Left Behind" series of novels for zombies and other assorted wingnuts by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B. Jenkins.

I've long been curious about these books and fascinated by their commercial success. They've allegedly sold 42 million copies from the series - it's almost an incentive to cross over to the other side. How hard could it really be to crank that crap out? My spiritual advistor said to me just the other day, "I mean, fuck, what could be easier than wingnuttery?"
