Florida's Evil Felon List

I have been hearing bits and pieces about the Florida felon list controversy, and I was under the impression that it was an overblown story. "Much ado about nothing."

But now I see that it was indeed a grievous, sinister plot by Florida Republicans to disenfranchise democrats from voting.

First, they attempted to implement the list in secret. This was a sure sign that something nefarious was afoot.

More importantly, however, was the fact that the list contained thousands of names of blacks. Polls show black support of Kerry at something like 93%.

In contrast, hispanics (which in Florida are traditionally Republican supporters) only appeared on the list 61 times. Sixty one hispanic felons vs. thousands of blacks in a state with one of the country's highest hispanic population?

There is no way to spin this except as an evil, calculated step towards stealing the election - again.

Here is a quick piece about the black/hispanic numbers on the list (and the fact that Jeb Bush pushed for the purge to happen even after the number problem with the list was pointed out to him explicitly):

Republicans: Eventually, those of you who can think will recognize that you're in bed with some very bad people who are bent on doing things that your movement allegedly condemns. Wake up.
